A total of 20,341,598 students are enrolled in U.S. colleges including 4-year colleges, community colleges, and trade schools.

By gender, there are 8,596,425 men students and 11,745,173 students. The men to woman students ratio is 0.73 to 1.

In 4-year colleges, 57.69% of total enrollment is women students and 42.31% is men students. In community colleges, the women students' proportion is 57.45%.

West Virginia colleges have the highest rate of men students of 50.09%. Minnesota colleges have the highest rate of women students of 64.96%.

In 3,064 4-year colleges in United States, there are 6,506,628 men students which is 42.31% of total students. The proportion of women students at 4-year colleges is 57.69% (8,872,566).

Of the 4,651,632 students attending community colleges (2-4 years colleges), 42.55% are men (2,672,485) and 57.45% are women students (2,672,485).

In trade schools (less than 2-years schools), there are 110,650 men and 200,122 women students, accounting for 35.60% and 64.40% of total students.
