Student Population Changes

The average student population over the last 11 years is 21,431 where 20,276 students are attending the school for the academic year 2024-2025.

77.78% of total students is undergraduate students and 22.22% students is graduate students. The number of undergraduate students has decreased by 874 and the graduate enrollment has increased by 565 over past 10 years.

The female to male ratio is 1.47 to 1 and it means that there are more female students enrolled in UofM than male students.

Enrollment by Race/Ethnicity Changes

The percentage of white students is 37.27% and the percentage of black students is 34.93% at University of Memphis. 5.15% of enrolled students is Asian. Hispanic students comprise 10.50% of the student body.

Over the past 10 years, the racial composition has shifted. The percentage of white students decreased from 51.44% to 37.27%. Asian enrollment grew from 3.13% to 5.15%. Black student enrollment increased from 33.92% to 34.93%. Hispanic student representation expanded from 4.04% to 10.50%.

The overall racial diversity, measured by the Census Bureau Diversity Index, is 0.7238 which indicates that quite diverse. This increased from 0.6166 a decade ago, suggesting that racial diversity has improved.
