Enrollment by Race/Ethnicity Changes

The percentage of white students is 57.93%. The percentage was 65.14% 10 years ago and Penn State still has a high percentage of white students. 7.07% of enrolled students is Asian and 4.33% is black students. Hispanic students comprise 8.66% of the student body.

Over the past 10 years, the racial composition has shifted. The percentage of white students decreased from 65.14% to 57.93%. Asian enrollment grew from 5.78% to 7.07%. Black student enrollment increased from 4.01% to 4.33%. Hispanic student representation expanded from 5.71% to 8.66%.

The overall racial diversity, measured by the Census Bureau Diversity Index, is 0.6486 which indicates that moderately diverse. This increased from 0.5669 a decade ago, suggesting that racial diversity has improved.
