1,184 SAT and 25 ACT in Average for 2025 Admission

For the 2025 college admission cycle, a total of 349,928 enrolled students submitted SAT scores and 279,633 students submitted ACT scores to colleges.

The average SAT score for U.S. colleges is 1,184 and the average ACT composite score is 25. Compared to the previous year, the national average SAT score increased by 10 points from 1,173 to 1,184, representing a 0.9% change. The average ACT score increased by 1 points, from 25 to 25.

The average acceptance rate for colleges with available SAT data is 57.23% with a yield rate of 20.04%. This represents a 1.28 percentage point decrease in selectivity compared to the previous admission cycle.

Colleges in California have the highest SAT score of 1,329 and colleges in West Virginia have the lowest SAT score of 1,004.
