In California 4-years colleges and universites, 41,635 students are 18 years old or younger(1.73%), 289,434 students are 18 or 19 years old (12.03%), 293,980 students are between 20 and 22 years old (12.22%), 226,852 students are between 22 and 24 years old (9.43%), 169,037 students are between 25 and 29 years old (7.03%), 117,494 students are between 30 and 39 years old (4.89%), 41,623 students are between 40 and 49 years old (1.73%), 21,800 students are 50 years old or older (0.91%)

In California community colleges, there are 365,756 students are younger than 20 years old (18.60%), 280,068 students are between 20 and 24 years old (14.24%), 114,337 students are between 25 and 29 years old (5.81%), and 223,113 students are 30 years old or older (11.34%).
