Total enrollment fluctuated between 2016 and 2025, with 6 year-over-year increases and 3 decreases. It peaked at 115 students in 2017 and was lowest at 20 in 2021. Overall, enrollment dropped from 106 to 94 students, a net loss of 12 (11.3%).

Enrollment by Race/Ethnicity Changes
The percentage of white students is 8.51% and the percentage of black students is 32.98% at The Ailey School. 1.06% of enrolled students is Asian. Hispanic students comprise 5.32% of the student body.
Over the past 10 years, the racial composition has shifted. The percentage of white students decreased from 12.26% to 8.51%. Asian enrollment grew from 0.94% to 1.06%. Black student enrollment increased from 24.53% to 32.98%. Hispanic student representation contracted from 6.60% to 5.32%.
