Enrollment by Race/Ethnicity Changes

The percentage of white students is 60.07%. The percentage was 66.42% 10 years ago and NCSU still has a high percentage of white students. 8.82% of enrolled students is Asian and 6.16% is black students. Hispanic students comprise 8.39% of the student body.

Over the past 10 years, the racial composition has shifted. The percentage of white students decreased from 66.42% to 60.07%. Asian enrollment grew from 4.79% to 8.82%. Black student enrollment decreased from 6.36% to 6.16%. Hispanic student representation expanded from 4.37% to 8.39%.

The overall racial diversity, measured by the Census Bureau Diversity Index, is 0.6184 which indicates that moderately diverse. This increased from 0.5496 a decade ago, suggesting that racial diversity has improved.
