Total enrollment fluctuated between 2016 and 2025, with 4 year-over-year increases and 5 decreases. It peaked at 17,821 students in 2016 and was lowest at 12,872 in 2023. Overall, enrollment dropped from 17,821 to 13,523 students, a net loss of 4,298 (24.1%).

Enrollment by Race/Ethnicity Changes

The percentage of white students is 54.18%. The percentage was 64.45% 10 years ago and MCC KC still has a high percentage of white students. 2.97% of enrolled students is Asian and 15.91% is black students. Hispanic students comprise 15.20% of the student body.

Over the past 10 years, the racial composition has shifted. The percentage of white students decreased from 64.45% to 54.18%. Asian enrollment grew from 2.81% to 2.97%. Black student enrollment increased from 14.65% to 15.91%. Hispanic student representation expanded from 9.97% to 15.20%.

The overall racial diversity, measured by the Census Bureau Diversity Index, is 0.6526 which indicates that moderately diverse. This increased from 0.5483 a decade ago, suggesting that racial diversity has improved.
