VAWA Statistics by State

For the calendar year 2023, 19,185 VAWA occured at U.S. colleges. The VAWA rate per 1,000 students is 0.24 at U.S college campues. By violation type, there were 4,946 domestic violences, 4,613 dating violences, and 9,626 stalking VAWA cases.

Of the 17,010 total on-campus VAWA at U.S. colleges,

21.95% were domestic violences, and the on-campus domestaic violence rate per 1,000 students is 0.05.
24.87% were dating violences, and the on-campus dating violence rate per 1,000 students is 0.05.
53.18% were stalking related, and the on-campus stalking rate per 1,000 students is 0.11.

For all VAWA cases, there were 17,010 on-campus, 1,052 non-campus, 1,123 public property, and 8,426 residence hall VAWA occured last year. (The number for on-campus VAWA includes residence hall VAWA).
