Campus Safety/Security Matters

At University of California-San Diego, 1,072 on-campus, 32 out-of-campus, 21 public property, 473 residence halls, and 19 on-campus fire were reported. The following table summarizes campus safety/security matters by location and types for the calendar year 2023.

The criminal and safety related action rate per 1,000 students is 25.42. When limited to on-campus, the rate per 1,000 students is 24.22. The criminal offenses rate per 1,000 students is 13.40 at UCSD.

By violation type, 85 arrests, 593 criminal offenses, and 405 disciplinary actions are reported. In addition, 41 VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) and 1 hate crimes are reported at UCSD.

Criminal Offenses Statistics By Location and Types of Crime

At University of California-San Diego, 593 criminal offenses are reported including rape, fondling, incest, statutory rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, and arson.

The crminal offenses rate per 1,000 students is 13.40 regardless location and category. Limited to on-campus, crminal offenses rate per 1,000 students is 12.56 at UCSD.

By crime category, Motor Vehicle Theft was the most common with 482 cases, and Burglary was the second most common with 37 cases. When restricted to campus, including residence halls, Motor Vehicle Theft was the most common with 472 incidents, while Burglary was the second most common with 36 incidents.
